SUMMARY:BODY PERCUSSION WORKSHOP
DESCRIPTION:Body percussion converts our body into a moving instrument. It is a discipline that integrates movement with the great variety of sounds we can produce with our body. During class we will use some theory-based notions and exercises of rhythms that will help to improve our coordination and our capacity to listen to ourselves and the group. Gradually\, you will obtain choreography in which you will move through the rhythm and the music of your own body. Body Percussion is a discipline recommended for adults and kids\, for dancers\, actors\, musicians\, or just people that like rhythm. Instructors:Dario Vaccaro and Valeria Cossu \nWhat happens in a Body Percussion Class? \n\nSpecific workshops for dance and/or acting companies help to improve communication in the group and empower creativity through teamwork\nThrough basic notions we’ll work the coordination and you will discover the own sound of your body\nWe’ll learn how to listen each other through different kind of rhythms\nWe’ll work on improvisation and choreography\n\nThis class is designed for students who like to move\, take risks and be expressive. Each class begins with a simple warm up to improve alignment\, build strength and flexibility. To reinterpret an archaeological excavation\, the performers travel through time cleaning the material remains of an ancient civilization. This multi-sensory performance suggests a ritual of decolonization and transformation\, comparing journeys to virtual landscapes\, narrated in Quechua\, with digitized travel books by 19th-century French explorers. \n“Dr. Carol Damian\, Curator of MDC’s Kislak Center\, introduces the performance with a brief talk about the pre-Hispanic context\, illustrated by some of the compelling objects in the Jay I. Kislak Collection of the Early Americas\, Exploration and Navigation.” \nApuntes Americanos-Kanay es el nuevo trabajo de Roxana Barba\, donde  investiga la cosmovisión ancestral Peruana y el tiempo cíclico\, así como las campañas europeas de extracción cultural en el Perú. DESCRIPTION:El programa En Residencia\, creado en julio de 2021\, nació con el propósito de fortalecer y nutrir el ecosistema cultural de Miami a través del trabajo de nuestros artistas locales. Esta iniciativa busca impulsar la creatividad\, abrir espacios de experimentación y fomentar el diálogo entre los creadores y la comunidad. \nEn Residencia está abierto a artistas de todas las disciplinas y en cualquier etapa de su carrera. Como parte del programa\, los participantes tienen acceso a las aulas y al estudio de ensayo del Koubek Center para desarrollar nuevos proyectos\, investigar\, crear y colaborar.
