Juntas hacen un viaje musical por 7 países latinos interpretando en el formato clásico de violín y piano 11 obras compuestas por mujeres latinoamericanas\, algunas concebidas originalmente para un formato instrumental y otras que rompen el esquema trayendo a esta modalidad de dúo el bolero\, el bambuco y hasta el rock. DESCRIPTION:INDOOR EVENT – Free Parking \nThe Koubek Center and the Spanish Cultural Center of Miami present\, for the third year in a row\, a selection of films from the Human Rights Film Festival of Madrid. The event\, featuring films from Europe\, Latin America and Africa. The mission of the Human Rights Film Festival of Madrid is “To disseminate cinema that makes us reflect\, awakens consciences\, denounces injustices and reflects the social and cultural diversity of humanity. In the collective search for a sustainable humanity.” \nThis year’s festival addresses issues of global reach such as migration\, gender violence\, or the control of food by multinational corporations but then\, it also explores more personal matters\, such as bullying\, or the fight for respect and the right to a good life by those some states and institutions judge as “different.” The selection features films ranging in length from one to 37 minutes\, include both documentaries and works of fiction. The event is free and its main goal is to expose kids to the richness and variety of the cultural traditions in our diverse community. These gatherings will tickle children’s curiosity while using the power of stories to bring people together\, promoting literacy\, and nurturing the next generation of engaged world citizens. We want to encourage kids to read and develop a passion for books and literature. Culminating each day\, we will serve a special picnic with blankets on the lawn and baskets full of books\, in both Spanish and English\, to take home. Picnic de Libros is produced by the Koubek Center and Fundacion Cuatrogatos\, with the support of Miami Book Fair.

Her music is an original blend of her influences — reggae\, jazz and Hip-Hop — while her lyrics tackle weighty issues such as self-worth\, greed\, endangered love\, gratitude\, and corruption. Music is a vehicle for Kaylan for the changes she wants to see. Her first single debuted at #60 on the global reggae iTunes chart\, and every one of her releases since has charted in the iTunes top 100. Her debut album\,  Hydrate\, is out now on all streaming platforms. \nBorn in San Juan\, Puerto Rican\, Bri La Pelúa stands out with her voice\, energy\, and peculiar way of playing the Cajón. A self-taught musician\, composer\, and music producer\, Bri has sang in major stages such as El Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot and at Madison Square Garden\, New York\, where she performed before the historic fight between Amanda Serrano vs. Katie Taylor in April. Bri released her first singles as a soloist titled “Ay Papá” and “Eres Mujer” in 2020. \nBorn Laureine Lilavois\, Leau is a versatile singer. DESCRIPTION:Body percussion converts our body into a moving instrument. It is a discipline that integrates movement with the great variety of sounds we can produce with our body. During class we will use some theory-based notions and exercises of rhythms that will help to improve our coordination and our capacity to listen to ourselves and the group. Gradually\, you will obtain choreography in which you will move through the rhythm and the music of your own body. Body Percussion is a discipline recommended for adults and kids\, for dancers\, actors\, musicians\, or just people that like rhythm. DESCRIPTION: Germán López is a master of the timple\, the small five-stringed guitar native to the Canary Islands\, a cousin in a family of instruments that includes the Venezuelan cuatro\, the cavaquinho\, the ukulele\, and the charango. What has distinguished López’s career since its beginnings has been his approach\, aiming at putting the timple on the global stage and exploring its possibilities in fusions beyond traditional music. \nLópez\, accompanied by his quintet and special guests\, including Cuban singer Aymeé Nuviola\, fresh from her performance at the Latin GRAMMYs\, and legendary percussionist Sammy Figueroa\, will perform at Miami Dade College’s Koubek Center on Friday\, November 18. This evening\, López will present his new album\, Alma (Virgin Music)\, his fifth under his own name but the first on an international label. This release on a global platform marks a new stage in López’s career and in his idea of continuing to expand the projection of the instrument.

Sus trabajos más destacados en teatro son:“El Bululú. Antología endiablada”\, “Los Bonobos” y “Toc Toc” de Laurent Baffie\, “La Tempestad” y “Sueño de una Noche de Verano” de W. Featuring groups from Perú\, Colombia\, Bahamas\, Brazil and Africa.  Tambores celebrates the drumming tradition present in the Americas and the Caribbean\, from one of its African sources through the different variants\, shaped by geography\, economics\, religious beliefs and colonial history. Drums are the beating heart of music created to dance\, celebrate\, and speak to the heavens. \nHosted by multi-disciplinary puertorican artist\, Bri La Pelúa as DJ and MC with her unique an infectious Caribbean energy. Koubek’s Little Havana Social Club signature program channels the spirit of a fiesta de barrio (neighborhood party)\, informed by the many sounds and flavors of Latin American and Caribbean traditions but with a twist of contemporary Miami.

DESCRIPTION:The Koubek Center will bring an intimate and experimental Flamenco performance featuring the new generation of artists who are paving the way for a new way of understanding and seeing Flamenco. We present artists from Spain who can experiment in an intimate space and offer our audiences the same experience of an authentic tablao. Flamenco En Dos Orillas is an artistic residency featuring the unique collaboration between artists from Spain and local artists from Miami who will work together for a week to create a new work to be presented to the community as a public event. DESCRIPTION:L’Alliance Française and Koubek Center present Frénésies\, a theatrical production of La Compagnie Tilawcis \nTurned towards an organic incarnation whose common thread is the departure-return report from the native island\, the territory of origin\, Frénésies starts slowly with a misguided character “I had the ocean as far as the eye could see but I was without horizon”\, sometimes candid: Thomas (twin in Aramaic).  He meets his inverted double\, free and without attachment\, real or not\, to the public to decide\, Bilal (the name of the Patron saint of the muezzins\, the one who sublimates reality by sacralizing it. It also represents water in Arab culture\, the elusive\, the intangible\, the one who overflows\, who flies\, who engulfs)\, who will do it juggling disturbing and ecstatic situations during the course an unforgettable trip on American roads. The event is free\, and its main goal is to expose kids to the richness and variety of the cultural traditions in our diverse community. These gatherings will tickle children’s curiosity while using the power of stories to bring people together\, promoting literacy\, and nurturing the next generation of engaged world citizens. We want to encourage kids to read and develop a passion for books and literature. DESCRIPTION:Spend Sunday afternoon breakdancing\, building percussion instruments and learning how to play Afro Influenced music on Sekere\, Ukulele\, and Agogo. Then participate in a Community Jam Session\, with your newfound skills and friends. The Inheritants Project is an ongoing Miami-based youth Afro-Indigenous music and dance program with community interactive stage events.
