DESCRIPTION:Picnic de Libros is a bilingual\, family day program featuring storytelling\, theatre\, music\, arts and crafts\, dance\, and picnic baskets full of books\, for families to enjoy together. The event is free\, and its main goal is to expose kids to the richness and variety of the cultural traditions in our diverse community. These gatherings will tickle children’s curiosity while using the power of stories to bring people together\, promoting literacy\, and nurturing the next generation of engaged world citizens. We want to encourage kids to read and develop a passion for books and literature. Culminating each day\, we will serve a special picnic with blankets on the lawn and baskets full of books\, in both Spanish and English. \nThe next picnic will feature: \n\nPuppet workshop by Colombian actress Danly Arango.\nCreative Stage Productions returns with its entertaining characters.\nThe Spanish children’s play “ En El País de la Cocina” by the theatrical group Artefactus.\nPercussion workshop led by Mexican-American artist Nabedi Osorio.\n\nPresented by Fundación Cuatrogatos and Koubek Center. \nEl picnic de libros es un evento multidisciplinario\, bilingüe y gratuito\, que busca acercar a los niños a la literatura y las artes\, a través de cuentos\, poemas\, manualidades\, trabalenguas\, adivinanzas\, música y además\, habrá cestas de picnic llenas de libros\, para leer y disfrutar. \nEl próximo Picnic contará con: \n\nTaller de títeres por la actriz colombiana Danly Arango.\nCreative Stage Productions regresa con sus divertidos personajes.\nLa obra infantil de Teatro “En El País de la Cocina” del grupo teatral Artefactus \nTaller de Percusión conducido por la artista Mexicana-Americana Nabedi Osorio.\n\nPresentado por Fundación Cuatrogatos y Koubek Center.

DESCRIPTION:The successful Cuban Cinema Series\, founded and directed by film critic Alejandro Ríos since 1993 at Miami Dade College\, continues its performances at the Koubek Center with the film 8 – A by cuban director  Orlando Jimenez Leal on Thursday February 29th at the Koubek Center. \nThe Kafkaesque world of Cuba under Castro’s rule is brought to light in this reconstruction of the 1989 trial and execution of General Arnaldo Ochoa Sanchez\, the highest-ranking general and hero of the revolution\, and commander of the Angolan and Ethiopian campaigns.
