DESCRIPTION:Dancer and Master Instructor Marisol Blanco offers a weekly Afro-Cuban dance class that spans the history\, songs\, steps\, beats\, passion\, mysticism\, and intensity of Cuban folklore and culture. The course includes traditional ballroom dances such as the danzón\, mambo\, cha cha chá\, pilón\, mozambique\, son and the casino. Marisol will also teach dances of the Afro-Cuban heritage such as rumba (in its various expressions: yambú\, guaguancó and columbia); and of various ethnicities and African traditions including Yoruba (from the Orichas)\, Aará (Fodunes)\, Bantú (Mpungos) and also Haitian (Loaces).

DESCRIPTION:Picnic de Libros is a bilingual\, family day program featuring storytelling\, theatre\, music\, arts and crafts\, dance\, and picnic baskets full of books\, for families to enjoy together. The event is free\, and its main goal is to expose kids to the richness and variety of the cultural traditions in our diverse community. These gatherings will tickle children’s curiosity while using the power of stories to bring people together\, promoting literacy\, and nurturing the next generation of engaged world citizens. We want to encourage kids to read and develop a passion for books and literature. Culminating each day\, we will serve a special picnic with blankets on the lawn and baskets full of books\, in both Spanish and English \nThe upcoming Picnic will feature: \n\nPuppet-making workshop is back! with Colombian artist Danly Arango\nCreative Stage Productions returns with their amusing array of characters.\nStorytelling with Argentinian actors Leticia Gonzalez and Osqui Guzmán from Noticiero Puro Cuento\nHip-hop class for kids with Suriname dancer Christian Olmtak\n\nFREE PARKING AND ADMISSION WITH RSVP
