DESCRIPTION:The Koubek Center will be accepting applications for its annual artist residency program\, En Residencia\, from March 18 through April 30. Local creators are eligible regardless of their discipline or stage of their career. The selected artists will be notified by June\, at which time they can begin their residencies. The membership fee for En Residencia is $200 and is valid for a year. During that time\, artists can use the classrooms and limited studio space\, which ranges between 400 and 750 square feet. The spaces will be available Monday through Friday\, from 9 am to 8 pm. Artists may block spaces for up to 2 months per project\, with a maximum of two projects per year. The Koubek Center will consider flexibility regarding the length of individual residencies on a case-by-case basis. \nEl Koubek Center estará aceptando solicitudes para su programa anual de residencias artísticas\, En Residencia\, a partir del 18 de marzo hasta el 30 de abril. DESCRIPTION:The Koubek Center celebrates “the sound of surprise\,” as this music was once called\, with the second edition of Jazz @ Koubek. This two-night event on May 3rd and 4th at 8pm. will offer a chance to enjoy established talents and discover jazz’s next generation. The Leesa Richards Quartet and Jean Caze Quartet headline the opening night concert on Friday\, May 3rd. Richards\, a vocalist\, songwriter\, and dancer\, has proven comfortable and effective in singing jazz\, soul\, and R&B\, performing with artists such as Faith Hill\, The Bee Gees\, and Gloria Estefan and appearing on the Broadway musical Jesus Christ Superstar national tour. Haitian-American trumpeter and composer Jean Caze’s credits include performing with leading artists such as Aretha Franklin\, Herbie Hancock\, and Michael Bublé. The following evening will be a trio showcase featuring three-time GRAMMY-nominated Negroni Trio\, led by pianist Jose Negroni and Washington D.C. area bassist Noah Nipp and his Double N Trio. \nEl Koubek Center celebra “el sonido de la sorpresa”\, como la llamó un gran crítico\, con la segunda edición de Jazz @ Koubek. Este evento de dos noches\, los días 3 y 4 de mayo a las 8pm ofrecerá la oportunidad de disfrutar de talentos consagrados y descubrir a la nueva generación del jazz.
