Special Presentation

Director Patricia Juarez will be in attendance to participate in a post-screening Q&A.

This screening is a part of the Spotlight on Cuba at Miami Film Festival, made possible with support of ArtesMiami

Antihero is a spirited documentary about the life and works of José Manuel Domínguez, and the world of people with disabilities. Domínguez is a blind Cuban writer, actor, and director who produces plays through his organization Antiheroes Project which emphasizes inclusion. Under his direction, Antiheroes Project has rapidly evolved into one of the influential Latinx contemporary arts theater groups in South Florida.

Antihero explores how Domínguez’ artistic work transcends raising awareness about people with disabilities, their challenges, achievements, and shortcomings, and their right to inclusion. The film is directed by first-time filmmaker Patricia Juarez who has skillfully documented one of Miami’s most important artists.
