The work of Cuban singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Yusa is as influenced by Brazilian music, and North American funk, soul and jazz as by Nueva Trova and son. Her singing (her rich, sultry voice has elicited comparisons to Tracy Chapman); her poetic lyrics, and broad musical references suggest an update of the troubadour tradition in Cuban music.
